The Desmond Tutu Master's Scholarship





This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Africa for postgraduate Master's study within the School of Divinity for the 2016-2017 academic session.

Award
This scholarship was set up in 2009 to commemorate the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Divinity conferred by the University on the Most Reverend Desmond Tutu.
During the graduation ceremony Archbishop Tutu spoke of the historic links between Africa and the University of Edinburgh: "Some of our first black physicians were people who had trained here and there is a long tradition that links this university with our part of the world."
The scholarship will cover the full overseas tuition fee and a maintenance allowance of £5,000. The award will be tenable for one academic year.

2016 Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) Fellowship Program

The Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) Fellowship Program was founded in order to train women's human rights lawyers from Africa who are committed to returning home to their countries in order to advance the status of women and girls in their own countries throughout their careers. 

Over 80 women's human rights advocates from Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe have participated in the LAWA Program, and we hope to include Fellows from additional countries in the future.




HSCI Internship Program (HIP)

The Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Internship Program (HIP) provides undergraduate students with a focused and challenging summer research experience in a cutting-edge stem cell science laboratory. Interns are exposed to different professional options within the scientific arena through a stem cell seminar series, a career pathways presentation, and a weekly stem cell companion course. Students present their summer research findings, both orally and in poster format, at the HIP Symposium—a requirement of all program participants.
